Cruz y Ortiz will be appointed knights of the Royal Order of the Netherlands Lion

The King of the Netherlands honors Seville architects Cruz y Ortiz by remodeling the Rijksmuseum

• It is the first time a Spanish architect receive this prestigious award , which has been awarded to other personalities such as Nobel Prize-winning author JM Coetzee and the director of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra of Amsterdam, Mariss Jansons .

• The Rijksmuseum has reached a record 2.8 million visitors just met the year of its opening last April 13 .

• The event will be held on April 22 at 19 pm in the Fine Arts and with the participation of the director of the Rijksmuseum , Wim Pijbes , former state architect Jo Coenen , and Luis Fernandez -Galiano .

The April 22 architects Antonio Cruz and Antonio Ortiz received from the Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Spain , Cornelis van Rij , the distinction of Knight of the Royal Order of the Netherlands Lion , granted by King William Alexander by extraordinary work carried out in reforming the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam.
From the Dutch Embassy emphasizes that ” the time to pay tribute to the architects of the renovation of the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam excellent work has come .” The ceremony took place on April 22 at 19.00 in the Fine Arts in Madrid.
The opening of the new Rijksmuseum by the then Queen Beatrix on April 13, 2013 was a great cultural event after ten years of reforms. Since its reopening , the national and international criticism has not stopped praising the involvement of architects Cruz and Ortiz. This year , the museum has also received 2.8 million visitors and several awards to its architecture , its management or communication , among other fields .
Before delivering the distinction intervene in a roundtable Rijksmuseum director Wim Pijbes, former state architect Jo Coenen , and Luis Fernandez -Galiano .

Knight of the Royal Order of the Netherlands Lion

The distinction Knight of the Royal Order of the Lion of the Netherlands is the most prestigious and oldest civil order of the Netherlands and those who stand out for their extraordinary contribution to Dutch society is granted. Among the events planned for this tribute , April 21 The New Rijksmuseum documentary will screen in one session. The projection ( in original version with English subtitles) will take place at the Cinematheque Slaughterhouse , 17.30 , and will be on production of documentary filmmaker , Hoogendijk wek . The film has received rave reviews following its premiere in New York and the Netherlands.
And one of the events organized by the Dutch Embassy to mark National Day , on April 24 will be delivered at 21.00 contest prizes Designs for the new Rijksmuseum , the Embassy of the Netherlands convened in collaboration with the Institute Europeo di Design, the European University of Madrid and the School of Design in Madrid . Before delivery of these awards , at 1930 , a conference was held by Nacho Carbonell , designer and jury member . Both events take place at the Central Design DIMAD , Slaughterhouse , Plaza de Legazpi , 8, Madrid.
